Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are officially box-office beasts, shattering records and making history behind the force of ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”s monster opening.
‘Eclipse’ grossed $68.5 million on Wednesday from 4,416 theaters in North America, setting a new record for the biggest single day Wednesday opening gross in history, topping ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ ($62 million). The film also scored the biggest single day opening during the summer play period, besting ‘The Dark Knight’ ($67.2 million).
This Friday, ‘Eclipse’ will play at 4,468 theaters in North America, setting the record for the widest opening on the continent ever, out-dueling ‘Iron Man 2′ (4,390 theaters) and ‘Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince’ (4,445).
